a sucker cake

Last weekend we celebrated Elinor's 3rd birthday! As you can see by the photo above, a great time was had by all, especially Elinor.

She had been asking for a sucker cake for months. Elinor is not really one for deserts or cake, so I was guessing the sucker cake idea was just an excuse to have suckers for her birthday. Well, lo and behold, that's exactly what happened. She exactly 0 bites of cake and devoured her sucker.

I was glad I didn't spend too much time on her cake since the main event was definitely the suckers. Chloe was pretty excited about the concept too. Candy on top of her cake, what is there left to complain about?!

It was nice to celebrate at home as a family. Our 3 year old didn't care too much that we didn't have a fancy party somewhere with a gaggle of kids, she was more than happy to hang out and eat her sucker with her family.

It's so cliche, but these past three years have just flown by! She got a big girl bed for her birthday and it's so fun to lay down with her at night and hear what crazy things she has to say. She's definitely the 'ham' of the family and enjoys telling stories with a myriad of facial expressions. It's hilarious.

Happy birthday miss, I'm excited to see what your future holds!

a travel vlog of a family of 12 visiting Europe

WAY back in 2017, our family went on a trip together to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Bruges, Brussels, and London. We had a great time together sightseeing and enjoying each others company. I made a little video to remember our time in Europe. I hope you all enjoy it too!

Also, here are a few links to some of the sites we visited.

and then she was 5!

Happy belated birthday to our little miss Chloe!!! It's a little weird saying my oldest is 5 years old. That age means kindergarten! That age means she's rapidly approaching school age and our whole world will change dramatically with everyday school activities and new friends.

We got a few of Chloe's friends together (a few is all you really need at this age) and played for a couple hours at an indoor zip line place in Thornton, CO. Chloe had an absolute blast. Elinor on the other hand was not a fan of that risky behavior.

Happy birthday Chloe. We're excited to see where your 5th year of life takes you!!!
